# One structure, from your whole life down to today's task.

Everything in Structure Your Life nests inside four levels, each one a little more concrete than the last. Set them up once, and every day's work has a place to live.

## The four levels

1. **Pillars** — The handful of areas that make up your life: health, career, relationships, whatever yours are. Most people have five to eight. They rarely change.
2. **Goals** — What you're working toward inside each pillar, on a timescale of months, not days. A goal gives a pillar direction — something to aim at.
3. **Projects** — The concrete efforts that move a goal forward. A project has a clear finish line and a handful of tasks underneath it.
4. **Tasks** — The next physical action — the thing you actually do today. Small, specific, and always attached to the project it serves.

## Why nesting matters

Because every task lives inside a project, goal, and pillar, you can always see which part of your life a given action belongs to — and you can always trace a pillar down to the one next thing that moves it. Nothing floats free, and nothing important gets buried under busywork.

## Everything else hangs off the structure

The hierarchy is the backbone, but a life is more than a task tree. Structure Your Life adds the surrounding pieces and attaches them where they belong:

### Pages & notes

Long-form thinking, plans, and reference material — attached to the pillar, goal, or project it relates to.

### Routines & habits

The recurring things that keep a pillar healthy, tracked without turning into clutter on your task list.

### Trackers

Simple measures for the things you want to watch over time.

### Calendar

Your tasks and commitments on a timeline, so structure meets the actual days you have.

### Focus timer

A quiet way to sit down with one task and give it your full attention.

## Getting started

Name your pillars first — the big areas of your life. Give each one a goal or two. Break the nearest goal into a project, and the project into a few tasks. That's the whole system, and it scales from a quiet week to a whole life.
